![]() ![]() Probably 2012's success and XCOM 2's ending hinting TFTD, but regardless while back in the day TFTD was critically panned it did make some incredibly memorable moments through it's horrifically difficult design. If that can be done with careful decision-making, the game isn't nearly as RNG-dependent as so many players complain that it is. It took awhile, because I was willing to analyze my odds and retreat when things weren't looking good for my team, slowly building a fortune and upgraded Hamlet so that I could invest in the heroes who were worth the investment. On my latest campaign I went 100+ weeks without losing any heroes on Darkest difficulty. If you choose to only develop (paying to heal stress, unlock abilities, upgrade gear, etc.) heroes that have strong potential right off the stagecoach, and by that I mean positive quirks that synergize well with their class (since positive quirks are the thing that players have the least control over obtaining), and then choose to retreat from dungeons strategically and dismiss heroes who get too stressed out or are no longer useful or worth investing in, you can creep to a point where you have a robust collection of trinkets and heroes who are suited to particular dungeon biomes and boss fights, and not lose anybody. The real meat of it - and I'm talking about Darkest Dungeon 1 here, not DD2 relationships - is that players have much more influence and control than many think they do, they're just not patient enough to do everything in their power to keep their heroes from dying. Make your game actually hard, don’t remove the few tools you have to help combat the RNG :( Okay now remove/nerf it for artificial difficulty”. I like the game, but I hate the balance direction of “oh oh the players are doing this because it’s good. Like I said this may well be outdated info, I haven’t played in some months. So it’s virtually impossible to end up with good relationships unless you are extremely lucky or play very specific builds. The main problem is they nerfed almost all non-inn ways of stress healing below 3 or 4. So relationships start to deteriorate and you end up in stress & affliction spirals. ![]() ![]() I haven’t checked in In a while so it might’ve changed by now, but basically at stress levels over 3 or 4 negative events and barks start getting proc’d. Problem is they needed stress healing to a ludicrous degree. Keep stress low and you will likely end up with everyone having a positive bond. Stress is the main mediator of relationships, trinkets too but I hate using them, tiny RoIs on them. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
